Young Composers Competition
Every other year, the EPO invites submissions of original orchestral compositions from Canadians 32 years of age and under for judging by an expert panel.
$3,500 in cash prizes will be awarded in three categories: a $2,000 Grand Prize, a $1,000 Runner-up, and a $500 Promising High School Composer prize. While COVID-19 restrictions make it impossible to announce the date, the Grand Prize winner's composition will be performed at an EPO concert in an upcoming season.
2021 Contest Guidelines
Grand Prize: Matthew Emery “Unanswered Letters”
Runner up: Curtis Wright “Guardians of the Night”
Promising High School Composer: Achilles Jiang “Sunrise”
Note: Due to cancellation of the March 2020 and 2021 concerts, “Unanswered Letters” will be programmed at a future performance.
