What We Do
The EPO is comprised of approximately 60 musicians, professional and amateurs alike, with professional section leaders. Orchestra members represent all ages and from all walks of life, and include a number of advanced music students who bring their enthusiasm and growing talents to the organization. The group rehearses every Wednesday evening from September to May. The orchestra performs five symphonic concerts concerts per season and a family concert. As well, it performs at many additional concerts during the year in local churches and with local children, youth groups, and other musical groups.
Most EPO concerts feature a guest soloist with the orchestra. In past seasons, special guests have included Jacques Israelievitch, Jonathan Crow (Toronto Symphony Orchestra concertmaster), Arthur Ozolins, Joseph Johnson (Toronto Symphony Orchestra principal cellist), David Jalbert, Jeremy Bell and Nancy Dahn. During at least one concert per season, members of the orchestra are featured as soloists.
The EPO is a registered charitable organization administered by a Board of Directors who, with a core of volunteers are responsible for all aspects of orchestra management. If you are interested in joining as a volunteer or performer contact us at 416-239-5665 or volunteers@eporchestra.ca.
