Nagao Bursary Winner
Connor Mcgroarty is a horn player from Oakville, Ontario, who is currently in his first year of the Music Performance program at the Faculty of Music, University of Toronto, studying with Nicholas Hartman. Connor began his musical studies at the age of 8 on piano and was introduced to the horn through his school’s band program at 13. He has preformed with various orchestras around the Greater Toronto Area, including Oakville Symphony, Mississauga Symphony, Toronto Youth Wind Orchestra, Mississauga Symphony Youth Orchestra, Interprovincial Music Camp Symphony Orchestra and Oakville Symphony Youth Orchestra, with which he went on tour to New York City, preforming at Carnegie Hall. Connor also has extensive chamber music experience, attending the Raphael Mendez Summer Brass Institute and performing with various other groups.
Connor is proud to be the inaugural winner of the Nagao Bursary and is grateful for the opportunity this gives him to expand his knowledge of orchestral repertoire through playing with the EPO.
