Chengyue Wu

Chengyue Wu is a high school student currently attending Hillfield Strathallan College located in Hamilton, Ontario. He is trained as a violinist and composer, and is also a self-taught percussionist. He is an active member of the school's music program, serving as a recognized leader in both the string ensemble and the wind symphony. He is a member of the Oakville Symphony Youth Orchestra. He currently studies composition with Dr. Eugene Astapov, a Canadian composer and assistant professor at Western University in London, Ontario. ‌ His music ranges from chamber music to orchestral works. He aims to take inspiration from everyday moments and feelings to create contemporary music that is not difficult for the audience to understand and could effectively evoke feelings in the audience. His dream as a composer is to one day hear his own orchestral work performed.
